The Sacred Fast of Karwa Chauth
Karwa Chauth is an emotional and romantic festival observed by married Hindu women for the safety and long life of their husbands. After a dawn-to-dusk waterless fast (Nirjala Vrat), women dress in bridal red sarees (๐ฅป), apply intricate mehndi (henna), and break their fast only after sighting the rising full moon (๐) through a sieve and worshipping their spouses with an earthen lamp (๐ช).
